"Saddam’s Execution Marks The End Of A Dark Period Of Iraq’s History"?
Saddam Hussein was hanged in Iraq early this morning. This marks the end of a long and brutal dictatorship.
A scrolling Iraqi TV headline read “Saddam’s execution marks the end of a dark period of Iraq’s history” - but it’s not over yet. By carrying out the death penalty on Saddam, he is martyred. His death provides an excuse for Saddam’s supporters (or opponents of the Iraqi government) to escalate violence and terrorist attacks all over Iraq, and gives new impetus to terrorist elements all over the world.
Executing Saddam was a mistake. He should have been left to rot in jail, not given a martyr’s death. This “dark period” in Iraq’s history is not over yet. Not by a long shot.

You’re most probably correct on that, Thunderdragon.
No, that’s wrong. Killing the guy was was a gift to humanity. Besides, me and my fellow countrymen spent $500 billion for the pleasure, and we’ll not be denied.
But executing Saddam simply opens the door for terrorists to commit atrocities in his name and secures Saddam a place in history. Had he been locked up for life without parole, he would have lived out the rest of his life in obscurity.
Do you mean to imply that a human life can be bought?! That $500 billion gives anyone the right to have the dubious “pleasure” of execution? If so, you are greatly mistaken.
Again I agree with Thunderdragon here. Have a Happy New Year, by the way.
I agree with Thunderdragon, too. Happy New Year, Thunderdragon!
May I add my voice to both the chorus of agreement with Thunderdragon and to the one wishing him a very Happy New Year?
