PETA Animal Killers Just "Doing Their Job"
Two PETA volunteers are accused of “collecting animals from rescue shelters on the pretext of finding them homes, then giving them lethal injections and dumping their bodies in a supermarket rubbish skip.” These are sort of people who should be trying to preserve the lives of animals as they call for animal ‘rights’ to be observed. How is killing animals preserving their rights? PETA should really be hanging these volunteers out to dry. Instead they are defending them:
“Peta, which is pro-vegetarian, has stood by its two volunteers, insisting there was “absolutely no cruelty” involved in the animals’ killing and that they were “simply doing their job” in “euthanising” animals to save them from overcrowded shelters. The only thing they did wrong, it argues, was dispose of the carcasses “inappropriately”.” (The Telegraph)
How is killing these animals doing anything right? They were alive and in a shelter. However overcrowded the shelters might have been, collecting these animals on the pretext of re-homing them and then killing them is just disgusting. Any of those animals could have been re-homed through the shelter, which probably does euthanize animals under it’s own policy.
What those PETA volunteers did is nearly as bad as anything that they campaign against. They killed those animals without attempting to re-home them. And they did this over at least a three week period, not just once or twice, and killed around ninety-three dogs and cats. What makes this even worse is that PETA says that the volunteers were “simply doing their job.” How is killing animals who might otherwise have been re-homed considering the ‘rights’ of those animals supported by PETA? And how is that “ethical treatment” of those animals?!
