Celebrate St. George’s Day
Why is St. George’s Day celebrated so little? Why is it not a public holiday, like St. Patrick’s Day is in Ireland?
The only people who appear to celebrate St. George’s Day is the Scout Movement, who went on parade all across England yesterday. We should all celebrate it.
Part of being British is celebrating our differences as well as our similarities. It is possible to be both English and British, they are not mutually exclusive. We should celebrate being both English and British.
We all know the legend of St. George and the Dragon, and for once the English should actually celebrate being English.
Just don’t go around killing dragons.

You always find great pics for your posts. Around here in East Anglia, there is a cmpaign to restore St Edmund as the patron saint of England/ He was the first saint of England until he was usurped by St George, who never even came to England, from what I understand. St George is the patron saint of many other countries too.
I looked up St. George’s Day, and now I know all about it. Happy belated St. George’s Day.
If I see a dragon, I promise not to kill it.
Thanks Ellee. I try my best!
Edmund probably should be our saint really, since he was actually English, but it’s more of a symbol nowadays anyway so it probably wouldn’t make any difference at all!
