I am a PCSO not plastic far from it. Been in the job just over a year after being made redundant and love it. It is what the title says Community Support Officer. The Real Police you refer to cant be everywhere at once and the vast majority do not want to spend there days pounding the streets. The majority of Police want the action they want the response, the raids,the traffic stuff etc. They dont view themselves as Community Police. They are there for a purpose,if you did not know and obviously you dont there are dedicated Police Officers for Neighbourhoods,not many and they are supplemented by people like me. Powers I push everything to the limit. I have detained thiefs and drug dealers until back up arrived saved a mans life recently from suicide passed on information for drug suppliers brothels etc and tell me what do you do? hide behind a keyboard and spit out your vitriolic bile without a clue to what is going on. Get a life or at least know the facts.
