A poignant reminder that a marriage is between two people, even a forced one. And that women aren’t the only ones forced into marriage. The reason that the male victims of forced marriage tend not to get spoken about is probably at least partly down to the fact that most of those who get reported are between British women and foreign men. And, of course, the inherent sexism of society towards women in these matters.
But that doesn’t mean that there needs to be a specifically male-only refuge for victims of forced marriage. Just make them all unisex.
