Conference Bounce
Gordon Brown is enjoying a nice post-conference bounce in the polls of seven per cent. The polls now stand at:
- Conservatives: 41%
- Labour: 31%
- Liberal Democrats: 16%
That’s very nice for him.
But Labour is still ten points behind the Conservatives, and of course this poll was conducted before Ruth Kelly’s resignation changed things.
However, this is going to be eroded by the Conservative conference, which is also likely to provide Cameron with a bounce of his own.
The poll to wait for is the one after the conference boosts have settled down and we can see who had the most effective conference season - Brown or Cameron.
Until then, polls mean little if anything. Even ones that show a huge Conservative lead.
