Why I’m Not Writing About The Economy

unsustainable-economyYou may have noticed that the single biggest story at the moment has be remarkably absent from this blog. The reason this is partly that I’m not really directly affected by it at the moment, given my situation:

  • I don’t have a mortgage
  • I don’t have stocks and shares
  • I don’t have savings of more than the compensation limit in any one bank
  • I don’t have any dependents
  • I don’t have any loans
  • I have a job that isn’t likely to be at any risk
  • I have plenty of disposible income

Hence, the economic crisis isn’t likely to directly affect me and so I find it rather hard to get all that interested in the topic.

Especially since it’s such a complicated issue and there is no clear or correct answer.

So I’m not going to write about it much, except maybe to throw a few stones from the sidelines.

Well, neither am I, preferring to post musical items to (hopefully) raise my readers’ spirits. It’s all just part of the service at my ‘blog, and at no extra charge :-)

I tick the same boxes as you. Fixed term job for the next 2 years, renting accommodation, no savings over the compensation limit, etc. etc.

But, now it is affecting me. If I need to dip into my savings any time soon (Christmas is coming up), then I might end up suffering as I go to cash in ISAs.

I’m not going to end up homeless as a result, well, let’s not count any chickens, I shouldn’t end up homeless. But, I’m watching the pennies even more closely than normal as a result…
